Your development must comply with the provisions of the Building Regulations. A Commencement Notice and relevant fee will need to be submitted to Building Control in the Council not more than 28 days and not less than 14 days before commencement of works.
Primary responsibility for compliance with the Building Regulations rests with the owners and then the designers and builders. There are heavy penalties, including fines and imprisonment, for breaches of the Building Regulations. In addition, when it comes to selling a property, there may be difficulties if the purchaser’s solicitor cannot be satisfied that the requirements of the Building Regulations have been met.
